The Team Idemise 1-80 leveling guide has been sweeping the World of Warcraft, turning noobs (or newbies)  into power-gamers almost overnight.   This is one of the easiest and most powerful add-ons I’ve ever come across in this favorite MMORPG.  I don’t just advocate it, I use it and use it and use it.  It makes my gaming time more efficient and more effective every time I play, and it was DEFINITELY worth the money I paid for it.

That being said, there are a few things that I think need to be cleared up about it.  A lot of claims have been made that this is the be-all-end-all of leveling guides, but there are some points that have been made that really need to be addressed.

  1. This guide will NOT get you to level 80 in 6 hrs.  The claim on the sales page is that they SET THE RECORD at 6hrs, not that anyone can get there.  The average time I’ve seen people getting to level 80 using the Questup app (this is an alternate name for the guide) is usually around two to three weeks if you play every day.  Of course, if you put that up against the average non-guide user’s time of a YEAR or two, it’s still pretty impressive.
  2. The guide is not a hack, a cheat, or against the terms of service or end-user license agreement in any way.
  3. The guide is just that, a guide. It will NOT do your quests for you.
  4. The Info page on the product says you won’t have to read quest dialogues.  While this is generally true, you will probably have to skim through your quest log a few times to find certain things.  The guide is usually pretty good to point out to you when you’ll need to look something up.
  5. There is no install file.  You will need to follow the instructions to get it working on your computer.  There is a great readme file in there, though.  These guys don’t leave you to fend for yourself!
  6. Purchasing the leveling guides will include updates.  These are uploaded automatically, and you won’t be able to make the changes yourself.  As you play, however, the guide will update their main servers.  Just chill, you’ll be fine.
  7. Occasionally the lettering on the questup box can be a little hard to read.  For me, it’s the red letters, but after you get used to it, it gets a lot easier.  Give it some time.

Overall, I’d say this is still one of my favorite things to come out of WoW in a long time.  These guys really know their stuff, and they’ve bundled it all into a neat little package for us.  Blizzard and all fans of WoW owe a debt of thanks to Team Idemise for all their hard work and effort.  I’m a fan.
